107-4The medical device market in Thailand continues to strong economic growth, even the slowdown of a global. Thailand’s medical device market was value more than $850 million in 2012.

Thailand’s pharmaceutical market is steadily growing. Mostly still reliant on drug imports. The values of the Thailand pharmaceutical market at about $4.3 billion. The government is encouraging the use of generic drugs over patents drugs for cut costs.

Thailand continues to develop, increase demand for better healthcare of citizens, to support universal healthcare system by raising the per capita healthcare expenditure.

Since April 2009, the government raised the per capita health expenditure budget from 2,202 baht ($74) to about 2,400 baht ($81) per capita. The Thai government is continued to support the universal healthcare system in the country.

Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is responsible to protecting consumer health by control the quality, safety and efficacy of medical devices in Thailand.
